A verified TikTok account with the @elonmusk handle posted for the first time last week, sharing a supercut of SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink, and Boring Company promotional material that has since been viewed 2.1 million times, while a verified @elonmusk account also surfaced on Instagram, though it has yet to post anything. The Times could not independently verify that Musk is behind the accounts, and Musk, TikTok, and Meta did not respond to requests for comment. The timing is notable given that Musk has previously called TikTok addicting and said its AI was “probing” his mind, and has shown disdain for Instagram and Facebook for years, but is now preparing SpaceX for an IPO that requires building widespread public interest.
