Amazon’s About You profiles go viral for telling shoppers they have “flat buttocks” and “cuss when scared”

by | Oct 9, 2026 | Latest E-commerce News & Updates

Amazon shoppers are posting the About You profiles Amazon has built on them, after a Threads user found hers included guesses like “has flat buttocks” and others turned up entries such as “cusses when scared,” according to Jude Cramer at Fast Company. Amazon launched the page in beta in May, and it sorts what the company has concluded about a shopper into product preferences, interests and hobbies, and home and family, based on searches, orders, reviews, saved Lists, and Alexa for Shopping conversations. The guesses aren’t always accurate, with one profile Business Insider checked listing the wrong name for an editor’s partner. Shoppers can add details or delete entries they find wrong or too personal, but they can’t turn the feature off.
