Shopify App Store app counts are growing about 28% a year while the number of Shopify stores grows 10% to 14%, leaving 8.8 apps per 1,000 stores compared with 5.5 in July 2023, according to research from Barn2 founder Katie Keith. Keith also modeled the earnings of the 1,675 apps with published prices and found the 16 biggest take about 40.6% of app revenue while half split 0.6%, but she says any single app’s estimate could be off by as much as 2x. The oldest apps earn about 100 times what the newest do, and star ratings showed no link to revenue.
