Whop raised a $200 million Series D at a $5.1 billion valuation, co-led by Sequoia and Shopify Ventures, eight months after Tether invested $200 million in the company at a $1.6 billion valuation. Whop sells payments, distribution, and API tools to people building online businesses, and it said about 25,000 operators on the platform bring in $550 million a month combined. The money will fund Whop’s expansion abroad and research into payments and advertising. Whop’s recent launches include Business Blueprints, which sets up a business that’s ready to sell within minutes, and a CLI that lets AI agents run a business through Whop’s API. A newer recommendation engine called Economic Intelligence costs businesses an extra share of the revenue it brings in.
