Shopify says AI-referred sessions grew 197% and orders tripled in Q2, down sharply from the multiples it reported in Q1

Shopify said sessions arriving at its storefronts from AI search rose 197% YoY in Q2 and that orders from them roughly tripled, well below the multiples it published three months ago, when it put session growth above 8x and order growth near 13x for Q1. Neither post gives absolute volumes, so how much of the drop is base effect isn’t clear. Organic sessions grew 12% over the same period and still send more traffic than every AI platform Shopify tracks combined. Shoppers who reach a product page from AI convert about 80% better than those from organic, and roughly twice as well in categories where they compare specs before buying, with watches at 2.4x and necklaces at 2.3x.
