Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke turned a wine cellar he couldn’t fill into a server room for a Dell machine built on Nvidia’s GB300 platform, which he uses to train AI models at home, he said on Alex Heath’s Sources podcast. Running AI locally lets him handle sensitive information he doesn’t want to give an outside AI company, and his agent researches topics, writes briefings, and gathers his Fitbit data, calendar, and location. Lütke said he used the heart rate data to work out which people his most stressful meetings are with, then told them, and they didn’t find it nearly as funny as he did. He has pushed AI at Shopify too, telling teams in an April 2025 memo that they must show why AI can’t do the work before hiring.
