Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said on the All-In podcast that his company is projected to spend $300M on Anthropic tokens this year, calling AI coding agents and Anthropic “awesome” and saying agents have brought “unprecedented” levels of efficiency to areas including service, support, distribution, and marketing. Last August, Benioff announced that AI agents enabled Salesforce to cut its support staff from 9,000 to 5,000, and he revealed that Salesforce is working on technology inside Slack to make it easier for everyone to code, though he stopped short of giving details. Benioff also called for an “intermediary layer” in the future that could determine which token inputs should go to frontier models like Claude and which may be suitable for smaller models, signaling not every token spent by a company employee needs to go to the most expensive model.
