Microsoft is training its sales team to compete harder against Anthropic and OpenAI, pitching lower costs, tighter security, and a fuller product suite, according to Bloomberg. Executives at an internal FY27 strategy meeting cast Microsoft as selling a full end-to-end system versus rivals’ parts, and one showed a Copilot-versus-Claude comparison faulting Claude as slower, less accurate, and weaker on security integrations. CEO Satya Nadella told the group that helping customers monitor AI costs and use cheaper models is a major theme, citing a Unilever claims-processing system that swapped an advanced model for a cheaper Microsoft one for projected savings near $300M. Microsoft’s push comes as its stock has dropped 20% this year on fears that AI startups will displace its software and on its soaring data-center spending.
