Google is hiring machine learning engineers to build agents that choose topics, write AI-generated stories for Discover and its notifications, and check those stories for accuracy, freshness, and tone before recommending them to users, according to job listings on Google’s careers site. A separate director-level design listing calls for remaking Discover as a proactive, personalized “concierge” that works with YouTube, Shopping, Chrome, and Android, while still putting human voices and original sources first. None of the listings says when the AI content will appear or how much of Discover’s feed, which more than 500 million people use daily, it would take up.
