Kroger plans to cut 3,000 corporate jobs over the coming three years as it leans more on AI under a strategy it laid out last month, CEO Greg Foran told employees in a Monday memo, writing that the grocer needs to “reduce duplicative work” and reconsider where work is best done. Foran ran Walmart’s U.S. business from 2014 to 2019 before taking over Kroger in February, and he inherited a grocer still fighting Walmart, Aldi, Lidl, and Amazon after courts blocked the Albertsons merger Kroger had pursued to compete with them.
