Apple launched HomeView, a $299 smart home display with a 7-inch screen that comes in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, with preorders open now and shipping on November 13. The device recognizes up to six household members by their faces, so each person gets their own home screen, and it only shows someone’s Messages or Calendar when it sees them and their paired iPhone is nearby and recently unlocked. HomeView runs Siri AI, Apple’s rebuilt assistant, which can use the paired iPhone to pull in someone’s apps and personal context. Because Siri AI isn’t available in iOS in the EU, Apple won’t sell HomeView in the bloc at all.
