Fragment, a New York startup that builds the financial back end for AI software companies, raised a $12 million Series A led by FirstMark, bringing its total funding to $23 million. Customers including Ramp, BILL and Whop use Fragment so their AI agents can handle billing, payments and accounting without the companies having to build their own ledger and transaction systems. Fragment says its platform blocks invalid transactions, including ones caused by an AI model hallucinating, before they go through.
