Anthropic will be “a very speculative investment” once it goes public, Gil Luria, head of technology research at D.A. Davidson, told CNBC on Monday. Luria argued that Anthropic held nearly all of the enterprise AI market earlier this year, but its growth slowed after OpenAI caught up and businesses started using cheaper open-weight models to rein in their AI bills. Anthropic’s third-quarter revenue grew to $16.8 billion, but at a slower pace than in the second quarter. Luria said the AI trade only needs Anthropic’s IPO to go reasonably well, and he expects the bigger gains to go to Microsoft, Amazon and Google, which run the models, and to chipmakers like Nvidia, Broadcom and Micron.
