eComID bought Nilum, a Stockholm startup building AI tools for second-hand shopping, in its first move into recommerce since it was founded in 2023. The deal brings over Nilum’s technology along with its founder, Jonas Fagerlund, who takes the head of recommerce job. eComID sells what it calls a Shopping Passport, which carries a shopper’s size, fit, and taste preferences across the brands it plugs into so each one can tailor what it shows. The company now wants to run that same shopper data against pre-owned inventory, in a resale market it describes as fragmented and hard to search. eComID claims more than 60 brand partners, among them COS, J.Lindeberg, Axel Arigato, and Stadium. The undisclosed purchase comes weeks after a €14.6M seed round led by Systemiq Capital.
