Anthropic acquired Mithril Medicine, a one-founder startup working on treatments for two rare types of muscular dystrophy, and now runs its own drug discovery programs. Mithril founder Cody Tranbarger relied on Claude to manage contracts and experiments across 11 outside labs, which moved one candidate from concept to encouraging mouse results within 18 months. Tranbarger is continuing that research at Anthropic, which expects a drug could be ready for human trials as soon as late 2028 if the results hold. Anthropic also published early, mostly preclinical results from six partners, including Bristol Myers Squibb and Enveda. At Enveda, Claude caught all 11 problems that human reviewers found in 1,061 pages of manufacturing records, plus seven they missed, and cut review time by 89%.
