Amazon will add 3,000 Tata Motors electric trucks to its India logistics network over three years, starting with 20 in Delhi

Amazon plans to add 3,000 Tata Motors electric trucks to its delivery network in India over the next three years, starting with 20 Ultra E.7 light-duty trucks that went into service in Delhi on Tuesday. Amazon won’t own any of them, because the trucks are purchased and operated by the carrier partners that haul freight for Amazon. Each Ultra E.7 carries about 3.1 tonnes and goes up to 130 km on a charge, so the first batch is handling freight inside Delhi during the festive season rush. After Delhi, Amazon wants to electrify the roughly 2,800 km Delhi to Chennai route along National Highway 48, so it’s building charging stations with Yahhvi, a Delhi company that installs chargers for commercial EVs.
