Verizon signed an agreement with Amazon Web Services worth more than $2 billion that sets up a framework for spreading AI workloads, both generative and agentic, over computing sites linked by Verizon’s fiber network. The deal expands an existing AWS partnership and comes months after Verizon agreed to supply Google with more than $1 billion worth of dark fiber linking its data centers, bringing its signed AI infrastructure contracts to about $4 billion. CEO Dan Schulman said more hyperscalers, neoclouds, and big enterprise customers are negotiating for fiber. Verizon announced the AWS deal alongside its third-quarter results, in which it added 406,000 postpaid phone customers, its best third quarter in five years, and raised its full-year outlook for the third quarter in a row.
