Amazon’s internal forecasts put Canadian package volume up more than 40% between 2026 and 2029, beating its US growth rate every year, with plans for more warehouse capacity and a bigger logistics network, according to documents reviewed by Business Insider. A March planning document called the competitive gap a critical challenge, named Walmart, Loblaws, and Best Buy, and put Amazon’s same-day reach at roughly 54.5% of Canadian Prime members against rivals covering 70% to 85% of households within two to four hours. Amazon estimates that partner couriers cost about half what they do in the US, so it dropped 12 planned delivery stations that would lose money over five years. Tariffs had already pushed it to source some of what it directly imports into Canada out of China rather than the US.
