Anthropic appointed Harvard astrophysicist Christopher Stubbs, a former Harvard dean of science known for evidence that cosmic expansion is speeding up, to its Long-Term Benefit Trust. Through special shares that carry no economic stake, the trust picks an increasing number of the seven seats on Anthropic’s board until it controls most of them. Critics say that setup, combined with the super-voting founder shares Anthropic has reportedly planned, would give public investors little say after an IPO that could come in November. Stubbs takes one of the trust’s two vacant spots alongside chair Neil Buddy Shah, Richard Fontaine, and former Fed chair Ben Bernanke. The other has sat empty since Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar moved to Anthropic’s chief global affairs officer role in August.
