Albertsons’ retail media chief Brian Monahan leaves the grocer abruptly as Albertsons Media Collective moves under the CMO

Albertsons confirmed that Brian Monahan, the SVP who ran its Albertsons Media Collective ad business, is out, and the network now reports to CMO Emily Turner, according to Mitchell Parton at Adweek. The departure was unexpected because Monahan was due to speak at New York ad events this week. Monahan joined from Dentsu in July 2025 and led the network into branded content with Rico’s Tacos, a 22-episode series built from Albertsons’ shopper data that launched with Procter & Gamble in June. He pitched the series as a test of whether retail media can sell programming to brands.
