Shopify’s merchants and partners drove over $1.2 trillion in economic activity worldwide and supported about 9.6 million jobs over the past year, more than double and nearly triple their 2022 levels, according to Shopify’s new Entrepreneur Effect data hub. Shopify built those estimates from its own platform data, surveys of merchants and outside respondents, and economic modeling. The hub also says that from April to June, shoppers who arrived from AI tools converted 80% more often than those from organic search and spent 14% more per order, with three-quarters of AI-referred sales going to merchants outside the 100 product categories most common on Shopify.
