Xbox appears to be preparing a buy now, pay later program with PayPal and Klarna to help players afford next-gen hardware

Xbox appears to be preparing a buy now, pay later option for its products, after a dataminer found backend references on Xbox's website to such a program naming PayPal and Klarna, according to Insider-Gaming. The company has confirmed nothing, but the find squares with Xbox CEO Asha Sharma's recent talk of “radically different business models” to help players afford the next generation of hardware, including the rumored Project Helix console. Nothing in the leaked references limits the program to consoles, though hardware is the obvious target given how expensive the next generation is expected to be. BNPL can ease that upfront cost, but players who spread their payments can wind up paying more than they would in a single lump sum.
