WhatsApp began rolling out a feature called text actions on Android and iOS, which spots phone numbers, dates, addresses, and email addresses in a chat and underlines them as tappable shortcuts, according to WABetaInfo. Tapping a recognized number lets users call it, copy it, or save it as a contact, and if the number belongs to a business, WhatsApp also shows that company’s profile. Dates can go straight into a calendar or become a WhatsApp event, while addresses open in a maps app. Several of those actions existed before, but WhatsApp now gathers them in a single popup on the underlined text.
