Snap settled with the two remaining plaintiffs in the second Los Angeles social media addiction bellwether on Monday for undisclosed terms, just two days ahead of opening statements. Snap was the only defendant left after Meta, TikTok, and YouTube settled, so the deal ends the trial and spares CEO Evan Spiegel from testifying in an addiction case for the first time. The plaintiffs, an Illinois 16-year-old and a Mississippi 18-year-old, claimed features like autoplay and infinite scroll hooked them as minors and caused anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. Over 1,600 claims are still pending in the Los Angeles proceeding, and the next bellwether trials are set for March 2027.
