Odd Friend Studio, a Berkeley art collective, set up a 5-foot sculpture called “What Iceberg?” at the entrance to OpenAI’s DevDay on Tuesday, showing the company’s leaders and investors fleeing a sinking Titanic with their money while everyone else stays aboard, according to Cyrus Farivar at Ars Technica. The two artists built it in five days from papier-mâché, cardboard, and an old table, and one, who gave his name only as Kevin, said the point isn’t the collision but that “there was always a contingency plan for the rich and wealthy.” It stood alongside a rally outside the Fort Mason venue, backed by more than a dozen groups including SEIU and the Tech Workers Coalition, that targeted OpenAI’s ICE and military contracts and its data centers, The Verge reported.
