UK shoppers plan to spend £9.9bn over Black Friday and Cyber Monday this year, down 32% from the £14.5bn estimated for 2025, according to a survey by ecommerce marketing platform Omnisend. Fewer people say they’ll buy nothing at all, 24.8% versus 29.8% a year ago, but average planned spending per shopper fell to £267 from £390. Big spenders are pulling back hardest, with only 5.1% planning to spend £1,000 or more, down from 12.7%, while the portion expecting to spend under £100 more than doubled to 18.4%. Omnisend, which sells email and SMS marketing tools to merchants, advised retailers to send targeted offers like bundles and loyalty deals to past customers rather than run site-wide discounts.
