The badges include “Official Shop” and “Authorized Seller” tags for verified sellers, as well as Gold Star and Silver Star badges for businesses meeting high customer service standards. A “Top Brand” badge recognizes brand popularity and service. TikTok says the badges aim to increase transparency and trust for buyers and encourage sellers to prioritize service. The move comes as in-app shopping gains traction, with TikTok reporting strong sales growth on events like Black Friday.
