President Trump told a rally at Clemson University on Tuesday that he called Google CEO Sundar Pichai to ask whether Google Maps could rename the Atlantic Ocean, and that Pichai turned him down this time, saying oceans border too many countries. Trump said he’ll now “probably pass” on renaming it. Google Maps already shows the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario under the names Trump gave them, “Gulf of America” and “Lake America,” with the older names in parentheses in US search results. Google didn’t respond to Variety’s request for comment.
