eBay is cutting about 9% of its workforce, according to an internal memo from CEO Jamie Iannone seen by Reuters, eight months after it laid off roughly 800 employees, or 6% of staff, in February. Iannone told employees the company’s strategy is working but that it needs to put its resources into fewer priorities, and the memo doesn’t say how many jobs or which teams and locations are affected. February’s cuts hit engineering, payments, and finance roles in California, and some of those workers said their jobs were moving overseas. GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen, whose $56 billion takeover offer eBay’s board rejected, has called for $2 billion in annual cost cuts and said eBay doesn’t need 11,500 employees, but eBay hasn’t said whether his pressure played a role.
