TikTok creators push cheap Meta AI glasses knockoffs on TikTok Shop by claiming they can record people without a warning light

TikTok creators earning affiliate commissions are pitching $40 to $100 knockoffs of Meta’s AI glasses on TikTok Shop by claiming the cheaper pairs have no recording light, so wearers can film people without them knowing, according to Maggie Harrison Dupré at Futurism. The same knockoffs sell on Amazon, Temu, and Walmart under a churn of little-known brand names, most of them tied to HeyCyan, an app from China’s Shenzhen Qingcheng that Australia is investigating over its privacy practices. However, several pairs appear to have a light after all, and some creators skip that claim and pitch stickers that hide it instead. LUSBY, the only seller that responded, said its glasses have an indicator light and that it never authorized the creators promoting them.
