Senators Ron Wyden and Ed Markey sent Mark Zuckerberg a letter questioning the privacy and safety risks of Meta’s AI glasses, saying Meta released them even after spotting dangers to bystanders. They pointed to reports of men secretly filming women in public and posting the clips online, and to claims in a lawsuit that contractors reviewing footage for Meta’s AI saw people undressing and having sex. The senators want Meta to explain by November 26 how it handles accidental recording and tampering with the recording light, whether it blurs faces and license plates in AI features, when staff or contractors can see captured images, and whether that footage trains its models.
