Adam Iza, a Los Angeles crypto entrepreneur who goes by “The Godfather,” received a 78-month prison sentence and owes $23.4 million in restitution in a case centered on hijacked Meta ad accounts. Iza broke into business manager accounts on Meta, along with their credit lines, then sold that access to advertising firms, so Meta’s clients were billed for ads they never bought until Meta refunded them and absorbed roughly $37 million in losses. Five of the off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies he paid to dig up confidential records and intimidate his rivals have also been convicted. Iza’s sentence runs alongside the 15-year term a Connecticut court gave him last month over an attempted Bitcoin robbery, so it won’t add to his time in custody.
