OpenAI answered Apple's trade secrets lawsuit by publishing iMessages and emails it says contradict the account behind the injunction Apple is seeking. The messages show Apple employees asking Chang Liu to help them find files after his last day in January and leaving his iCloud account signed in on an Apple laptop, which OpenAI blames on Apple's failure to cut access when people leave rather than the residual access Apple describes. Apple's outside counsel at Weil, Gotshal & Manges emailed OpenAI general counsel Che Chang by mistake in February and told him they had spoken by phone, which Chang denied and Apple later acknowledged was an error. OpenAI said Apple never put these allegations to it before suing five months later, and that it neither has nor wants Apple's trade secrets.
