OpenAI announced it will expand its ChatGPT ads pilot to the UK, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, and Mexico in the coming weeks, building on the existing pilot in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. ChatGPT users in the new markets may see ads in categories like shopping, retail, or travel, with the expansion coming just two days after OpenAI launched its network of self-service ad platforms in the U.S. David Dugan, the longtime Meta ads exec who now heads up OpenAI's global ads solutions, said in the announcement that the expansion follows “strong interest from businesses looking to reach users in a more conversational, intent-driven environment.” The AI firm predicts it will make $2.5B in ads revenue this year and $100B by 2030, according to Axios, as it builds infrastructure commitments of $600B by 2030.
