OpenAI appears to be building a $500-a-month ChatGPT Pro Max plan, according to references in ChatGPT’s code spotted by independent researcher Tibor Blaho and the leak-tracking account TestingCatalog. The price would run 25 times ChatGPT Plus and $300 above the $200 Pro tier, and a leaked screenshot shows Pro Max differing from Pro only in speed on the Work and Codex agents, which some leakers tie to Cerebras chips. OpenAI hasn’t confirmed the plan, though it has used its DevDay conference, set for September 29, to introduce new pricing tiers before. At $500, Pro Max would cost more than twice Anthropic’s priciest Claude Max tier at $200 a month and five times Google’s AI Ultra, which Google cut to $100 in May.
