OpenAI Foundation, Anthropic, Amazon, and Microsoft are anchor partners on Raise US, a new nonprofit aiming to raise $1B to build a national platform advising governors on preparing their workforces for AI disruption, with $500M already raised, according to Business Insider. Led by former Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo alongside former Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, the group launched initial partnerships with Arkansas, Connecticut, Maryland, and Utah, an even split of Republican and Democratic states, with pilots like an AI career-navigation platform in Arkansas and expanded service years in Maryland. Raise US wants to test real-world policies including short-time compensation and wage insurance, with more states joining in coming months. Its advisory board spans Corporate America, labor, and academia, including Laurene Powell Jobs, Steve Schwarzman, AFL-CIO’s Liz Shuler, and economist Raj Chetty.
