Numeracle, a McLean, Virginia company that verifies businesses so carriers don’t mark their calls as spam, raised $28M from Edison Partners alone, according to Mary Ann Azevedo at Crunchbase News. Numeracle confirms a business actually exists, ties it to the numbers it calls from, and feeds that to the screening systems carriers use, charging a yearly subscription to fix wrong spam labels and a separate fee per call to display the business’s logo, name, and why it’s calling. Founder and CEO Rebekah Johnson said AI has made that vetting harder, because Numeracle now sees phony firms that hold state registrations, tax IDs, and staff with active LinkedIn profiles. Numeracle plans to expand outside the US and bring the same checks to AI agents, marketplaces, chat apps, and messaging.
