OpenAI agrees to acquire Pierre, maker of Code Storage and the Trees and Diffs tools, to bring code hosting and review into Codex

by | Nov 5, 2026 | Latest E-commerce News & Updates

OpenAI agreed to acquire Pierre Computer Company, which makes developer tools for browsing, reviewing, and storing code, for undisclosed terms, two days after unveiling Pando, its own in-house source control system built for many AI agents working on the same codebase at once. Codex’s file browsing and change views already run on Pierre’s open-source Trees and Diffs libraries, and Pierre’s team will now work on Codex’s Git workflows, as OpenAI tries to make Codex cover everything from an agent’s first branch to deployment. Pierre’s hosted Code Storage service will keep running for current customers as its features move into Codex, and its open-source projects will stay open source.
