Depop now requires every new US listing to use Depop Shipping, its USPS-based label service, which ends the “Other” option some older accounts used to buy their own postage, according to Value Added Resource. Listings set to “Other” before the October 28 cutoff keep it until they sell, but deleting and relisting one switches it to Depop Shipping. On Reddit, a seller who runs a vintage store’s account and had switched to Pirate Ship because it was cheaper said Depop only offered the Large and Extra Large package options for pants weighing a few ounces, which raises the cost for buyers. The change took effect the same day eBay, which bought Depop for $1.4 billion in July, said on its Q3 call that it’s using its carrier contracts to cut Depop’s parcel costs and pay for shipping promotions.
