Nscale and Anthropic are negotiating a deal worth about $45 billion for computing power from a second building on Nscale’s Monarch campus in West Virginia, according to Bloomberg. That building would supply 460 megawatts using Nvidia’s Vera Rubin chips, and Anthropic’s existing $44.6 billion contract from August covers roughly the same capacity at Monarch. Anthropic also holds the right of first refusal for a planned third building at the campus, but the terms of the new deal could still change. The talks follow Microsoft backing out of anchoring a different Nscale flagship site, after delays in getting it connected to power pushed its delivery date into the 2030s.
