Netflix announced plans to launch a vertical video feed within its apps this month to help users discover video podcasts and other content, and said it is expanding its use of AI-powered recommendation systems that co-CEO Gregory Peters said can “iterate and improve more quickly” and add support for different content types more efficiently. The company also cited its recent acquisition of Ben Affleck's AI filmmaking company InterPositive as accelerating its generative AI capabilities for creators, and said it expects to generate $3B in ad revenue this year by using AI to improve ad formats and customization. Netflix reported Q1 2026 revenue of $12.25B, up 16.2% year over year, with profit jumping 83% to $5.28B, and said co-founder and chair Reed Hastings will leave the board this summer.
