Meta tests Threads Friends in Ireland, Italy, and Japan, letting users share posts with up to 50 people instead of all followers

Meta is testing Threads Friends, a feature in Ireland, Italy, and Japan that lets users share posts with a list of up to 50 people instead of all their followers. Threads builds a starter list from the followers each user interacts with most, which they can then edit, and a green bubble above the feed collects friends’ posts from the last 24 hours. The feature works like Instagram’s Close Friends, and it’s close to Twitter Circle, which allowed groups of up to 150 when it launched in 2022 before Twitter shut it down about a year later.
