Meta Seeks Dismissal of $4B Facebook Ad Overcharge Lawsuit

by | Jun 18, 2025 | E-commerce News

Meta is asking a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit accusing Facebook of overcharging advertisers by $4 billion between 2013 and 2017, arguing the claims are time-barred under California’s four-year statute of limitations. The suit, brought by Iron Tribe Fitness, alleges Facebook used a flawed auction model that led to overpayments, but Meta contends the complaint lacks evidence of wrongdoing after 2017 and fails to show the plaintiff was actually harmed. A hearing is scheduled for October 3.
