Meta is hiring Dave Brown, one of Amazon Web Services’ most senior executives, to help drive its data-center build-out, with Brown reporting to Meta infrastructure head Santosh Janardhan within weeks, according to the WSJ. Zuckerberg told Meta’s May shareholder meeting that launching a cloud is “definitely on the table,” saying companies approach almost weekly to access its AI models or pay for spare compute. Brown becomes the latest infrastructure hire for Meta Compute, Zuckerberg’s initiative to build hundreds of gigawatts of capacity as Meta pours $125B to $145B into capital spending this year, joining recruits such as Daniel Gross and two former OpenAI executives. AWS chief Matt Garman told staff Brown would leave in late July for an outside role, capping nearly 19 years at Amazon and a seat on its S-team advising CEO Andy Jassy.
