Google Wallet is working on a Tap to pay setting that would let users choose to confirm who they are a second time right before making a contactless payment, according to an Android Authority teardown of the app’s latest version. The setting doesn’t let people pay without unlocking their phones, and the app text says every transaction will still require an unlocked device. Google Wallet currently skips repeat verification for three minutes after a phone is unlocked, and it’s unclear whether the new option would override that window or extend it. Google hasn’t announced the feature, and code found in a teardown doesn’t always ship.
