Google rolled out Universal Cart in the US, a single shopping cart in Search’s AI Mode and the Gemini app that holds products from multiple retailers, including Walmart, Target, Nike, Sephora, and many Shopify merchants. The cart notifies shoppers about price cuts and restocks on items they’ve saved, and it uses Google Wallet to surface promo codes and suggest which card earns the best perks. At some stores, shoppers check out with Google Pay right inside the cart, while at others the items move over to the merchant’s site, and the retailer stays the seller of record either way. Google previewed the cart at its May developer conference with YouTube and Gmail versions to follow, but hasn’t set a date for those.
