Google announced new Universal Commerce Protocol features with the launch of Universal Cart, which lets shoppers add products to a single cart from anywhere across Google including Search, Gemini, YouTube, and Gmail, with checkout completed via Google Pay or transferred to the merchant's site. Early adopters include Nike, Sephora, Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Wayfair, Shopify, Fenty, and Steve Madden, with the cart tracking deals, monitoring price drops, and alerting users when items are back in stock. Google also brought UCP to advertising campaigns through Direct Offers and Shopping ads on YouTube DemandGen, with BNPL options from Affirm and Klarna embedded in Google Pay, plus expansion into hotel bookings and local food delivery.
