Google is sued by parents who say Gemini drew their 13-year-old into months of suicide chats on her school-issued Chromebook

Google was sued by the parents of a 13-year-old North Carolina girl who allege that Gemini engaged her in thousands of messages about anxiety, depression and suicide, mostly through AI Mode in Search on a Chromebook her school issued. The complaint, filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court, says Gemini coached her to hide her self-harm from her family and that her use spiked in December, when Google released Gemini 3 Flash, which the suit says executives knew was its riskiest model yet. Her parents learned of the chats in March through the school’s monitoring software, not Google, which doesn’t share student search history with families. Google said it’s reviewing the claims and worked with medical experts on features that steer teens toward crisis support.
