Google opened Google Home to outside AI agents, saying any agent able to call Model Context Protocol tools can reach every device and the event history in the ecosystem. Claude, the open-source agents OpenClaw and Hermes, and Google’s own Antigravity coding platform were named as options, so someone could run a thermostat from Claude’s voice mode instead of Gemini for Home. Agents can also pull text summaries of what security cameras have recorded and run custom dashboards in place of the Google Home app. The rollout began Wednesday as early access in the US, limited to the $20 Google Home Premium Advanced tier. Google is the first of the three big platforms to open up this way, after years in which Home Assistant was the usual route for putting an agent like Claude in charge of a house.
