Euro-Office, a European open-source alternative to Microsoft Office and Google Docs, will ship its 1.0 release on June 9 from public GitHub repositories. The web-based suite includes editors for documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and PDFs, with real-time co-editing, comments, track changes, and version history. It supports Microsoft Office formats (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX) and OpenDocument formats (ODT, ODS, ODP), with a ribbon-style interface meant to ease migration from Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The project is being developed by Ionos, Nextcloud, EuroStack, XWiki, OpenProject, Soverin, Abilian, BTactic, Open-Xchange, and Office.eu, and is positioned for public authorities, education systems, and regulated industries moving away from U.S. productivity clouds. The suite ships as an integration inside existing European collaboration ecosystems, starting with Nextcloud Hub 26's Spring release. Euro-Office is a fork of Ascensio System SIA's OnlyOffice.
